Waxwings Ahead of Winter is an original, limited-edition 6-color reduction linocut. Each unframed artwork is packaged in a protective plastic sleeve alongside a backing board and ships to you in a sturdy rigid mailer. Background is a watercolor gradient.
Print size: 9 × 12”
Paper size: 11 × 14”
About the process: Reduction linocut printmaking is a unique way to create art. I start by drawing my design onto the linoleum block. I carve out certain sections of the design that I want to remain white (in this case, the background!) using wood carving tools. I then ink the linoleum block with the first color and press it onto the appropriate sized and textured paper. I repeat this process, carving away at the block bit by bit and adding layers of color. Because each layer of ink requires further destruction of the block, these prints are limited-edition and cannot be replicated.
Note: All sales are final. I do not offer returns or exchanges after the artwork is shipped. Please contact me at viviansullivanstudio@gmail.com with pictures and details if your order is damaged during transit.
